Noise Oversight and Information for Safe Environments Act

Congress 119Introduced December 23, 2025

Summary

**Overview**

This bill amends the Noise Control Act of 1972 to establish a mandatory timeline for reviewing and updating noise control criteria. The legislation aims to ensure regular assessment and potential revision of noise standards by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

**Key Provisions**

  • Requires the EPA Administrator to review noise criteria within two years of the bill's enactment
  • Mandates subsequent reviews at least once every 10 years thereafter
  • Allows the Administrator to revise or supplement noise criteria as determined necessary

**Impact**

The bill will create a structured process for ongoing evaluation of noise control standards, potentially leading to updated guidelines that better protect public health and environmental quality. Government agencies, environmental regulators, and industries dealing with noise-related regulations will need to adapt to these periodic reviews.

**Fiscal Note**

No specific funding mentioned for implementing the periodic noise criteria reviews.
